The only caveat is that any work on a new car that is not done by a franchised garage must be carried out by a business registered for VAT in order for the warranty to be maintained.
Hi Jeff ... I'm going back a few years (1990's), maybe the consumer laws have changed ... Honda dealer was really smug pointing out that I hadn't been getting the car serviced at their garage ... this was back in the days of a service every six months and for me it felt like a total rip off.
I ended up taking legal advice and all I had to do in the end was to show that my CRX was maintained and looked after to Honda specs ... daft thing was that it had nothing to do with the engine, I was claiming for rust perforation on the wing!!
