KEY FOB SNAG!!

[24]My wifes A2 has developed a intermittant problem with the key fob.Sometimes when you press the remote to lock the car it opens the boot insted?You can lock it ok with the key in the door and it will alway open with the remote.I have tried the spare fob and it is the same.Has anyone had this snag? I hope it is not that box of tricks under the dash I have been reading about where the owner had his remote not working at all!!
 
If both fobs are doing it, that sort of rules out a problem with a particular fob-have you tried re-syncing them? Can't remember how you do it on the A2, but probaly some combination of turning each key in the door or ignition-read the manual. Sometimes the signals can become weak and confused. Don't we all after a few pints!
