Yes I'v done it, managed to lose both keys for my A2, and its locked! as you all probably know, the blades are still available from Audi, but not the 2 button fobs, does anyone know of or have a couple, or one available? Are there any other fobs which could be used? Any advice, would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony M.

Morning Tony,

Sorry to hear you woes, very frustrating indeed.

It’s moments like this when the awesome advice Graham @audifan who always suggests ensuring you have 2 keys (minimum) being vital has failed you. It’s so very unlucky to lose both keys, but it happens.

I’d like to add another potential, although not immediate, fail safe. It won’t actually assist you right now either but maybe in the future…

I have a picture of my keys at home on a SD card (which is safely tucked away) so I can get them cut by one of the eBay key blade sellers from just the picture.

I know some will mention IT security pitfalls but it would be a very unlucky situation to lose all the keys and the SD card containing the ability get new blades cut.

The remote fobs are available from online sources along with new ID48 transponder chips that can be paired to your vehicle. There is a great guide on how to do this within the How To section but will need someone with the ability to obtain your secret key code (SKC) and have VCDS to complete the programming process. It’s very quick and quite simple to be honest.

Quite a few members have this capability and I’m sure they’ll be willing to assist but do feel that you might have to go to the dealers to get a new blade first. This is the sort of quick task that I would do FOC to assist a fellow member which I’m sure would be reciprocated by others.

Before you look to purchase replacement key fobs please do wait until you’re able to open your A2 as there are 2 revisions of remote fob and they both work will different CCCU modules.

Please do come back to us once you’ve gained entry to your vehicle and we as a community will be able to point you in the correct direction of what fobs to purchase.

Kind regards,

Tom

Also, if you can't get the correct blade cut from your current position, you either have to call out a locksmith or break a window to get in. If you go the latter route, DON'T break the little ones at the front or rear quarters, they are bonded and require a windscreen fitter or a similar level of knowledge and appropriate sealants to fit a replacement. Break one of the opening windows, these are on frames which are removeable with just screws and readily available from our breakers. A rear electric window might be more difficult but the manual rear ones and the front ones are plentiful.

Like Ian @Proghound mentioned, dont break the small triangular one,s very hard to fit, If it came to breaking, I have a passenger side complete frame glass assembly.
I normally get my key blades cut at Timpsons for £7 each ( I give them the uncut blade & current usable key blade to copy ) then ask @timmus to program the fob.
I have uncut blade & Fob, but that doesn't help you really as you need an original key blade to copy.
Cheers,
Ami

Morning Guys,

First of all thanks for all the advice, have to admit I came close to breaking a window, had I done so it would have been the small triangular one! The parts team in Aberdeen Audi have been really helpful, they have traced and ordered a pre-cut blade, they had also gone on line and traced a supplier in Germany for the fob, however delivery time was 1 month.

So currently the blade should be here Tuesday once I'm in will be taking Graham's ,audifan, route to the CCCU and onwards from there, you just know once I have the new key the old one will turn up!!

Any way guys, thanks again for your help and advice and will keep you all updated.
Cheers,
Tony. tmhsg.

How will you code it?
A mobile key guy could supply a few blades and code a few chips so the car will start

If you can get a few top halfs of the key second hand maybe then you will be ready to fit the remotes into them when you know which you need or get the immo taken off your ecu but dash light will constantly flash until a key is coded/recognised by the dash

Cleaning out our Sprinter today and, you guessed it, found the missing key between the seats under the hand brake, I know I looked , suspect the wife put it there but will never know. Its been an experience!!
Thanks again Guys.
Cheers,
Tony
