Life of the anti-roll bar bushes

Hi All

Someone will know the answer to this, what is the expected life of the anti-roll bar bushes and can they be changed or is it a new roll-bar?

I had mine replaced in Jan 2012 and I am now getting a knocking from the bar and today the garage that did the work said 30k was the expected life, I've never had to change them on any car having covered 30k miles so it does seem a bit soon.

Perhaps the A2 eats them and this is common.

If you could let me know, thanks.

I'm on the same bushes after 11 years / 70k miles and would expect an absolute minimum life of 5 years / 50k miles.
If however you have an old style roll bar with plastic sleeves where the bushes fit, its possible that rust has got under the sleeves and cracked them (quite common)

Cheers Spike

Thanks Spike, the anti-roll bar was replaced Jan 2011 and they say it's the new one, will have the garage take a look and see what is going on under there.

... and my bushes have worn spectacularly quickly. Set was replaced three years ago, needed done again in Germany. Much better.

3 years / 40kkms IMO.
