Low oil warning light

Hello All

Hope someone maybe able to point me in the right direction.

I have a 2001 1.4Tdi and the low oil warning is permantley displayed on the dash even though the oil is at the correct level.

Any ideas on how to get rid of the warning?

The car has done over 200,000 miles - so I would prefer a cheap fix such as disconnecting/disableing the sensor rather than going down the diagnostic route.....

Thanks in advance

Hi there - just a quick question, but are you 100% sure the dipstick is reading correctly - A2 dipsticks are notorious for being hard to read, or for breaking.

Hello dan_b

Yes, I have had the car for 6 years now & know it fairly well inside and out.

Best Regards

hi mate try to clean out the oil sensor that is what i had done it worked for me
best of luck ......

In some VAG TDI cars, if the oil light is on, but the oil light is OK, it might be the oil pump that is the problem (since the oil pressure will be too low). I have no idea whether that applies to the A2 as well. But first, look at the sensor as suggested earlier.

I don't think that disconnecting/disabling the sensor is a good idea. That sensor may save your engine one day (and that's doubly true in a high-mileage example).
