Metallic clacking from front

My Partners A2 has, for some Month's, been producing a harsh and obvious clacking noise when going over any undulations/bumps. It appears to originate from the driver's side, front, of the car. ( but it MAY be a bit further back) An M.O.T. is due on Tuesday, so Today I took the A2 to a local garage for an inspection. They spent just under 2 hours on it. They tightened the front struts at the top. They tested everything for looseness and couldn't find anything broken. Springs are fine, exhaust is suspended perfectly. The tests were done with the car's wheels none-loaded, too. The result? Absolutely no change! Really noisy metallic clacking over undulations! It's really disconcerting and crying out to be put right? I'm taking it for its M.O.T., anyway. Let's see what happens. I'm asking the A2OC for help at the request of my lovely Partner. She knows how much I get from this club and asked for your help, too. So there it is .... what do you think is making that noise? I think that it's definitely metal-to-metal?

it will be ! , As Fallan say`s. I`m on my third set of drop links over the years with these speed humps , and the low profile tyres 45`s I have on , as soon as you get them replaced the noise will go !, do not try and get the cheaper ones as they will not last as long ! stipulate that you want decent one`s , or they will try and fob you off, you can get them with a 2yr warenty if you look around ,

Drop links does seem likely culprit. But could it be something not obvious? I had a similar noise in a 1.4 petrol I had. Annoyed the hell out of me. Turned out to be related in the pipe that drains water from the windscreen being loose and it's metal fastener knocking the bonnet. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

In the same line of thinking as the drop links - ARB bushes? Those also sound very loud going over road imperfections if worn, and being connected to the drop links would also click the same way. I've had to replace them on all 3 A2s as part of the suspension refresh.
