MOT advisories on Rear Springs and outer track rod.

My A2 passed it’s MOT today with advisories on rear spring corrosion and very slight play in the offside track rod.

My questions are.
1) Should springs be replaced just because corrosion is present or should they be treated with rust inhibitor and wait until one snaps?
2) the garage say the play in the track rod is very slight and it cannot be determined whether it is in the outer track rod end or at the inbound end (Without dismantling). What experience have others had with track rod wear, is it normally the outer track rod end?

Thanks folks

Neither are pressing

If it was mine I would be more concerned about the springs and about £40 with very little Labour

Mine has slight play in n/s steering tie rod (inner ball joint) but it's nothing to urgently fix

Where is he best place to source the springs. Dealer or aftermarket?

The rear springs on models with sunroofs are heavier duty to support the extra weight.

KYB Rear Springs

KYB RH5514 Rear Springs (without sunroof)

KYB RH6594 Rear Springs (with sunroof)
