mpg

I was a little dissapointed with the mpg of my 01(75)tdi to begin with but having read and seen else where that 60, 70 ,80 mpg are possible i do hold out hope of hitting that sort of figure.

I only do stop start town driving and get between 41 and 46 mpg the most ive had is 50 so i need to do a long motorway run to see what my baby will do.

If i use the car just for work, which is 10 miles each way, i get about 52mpg. The engine temparature seems to effect the fuel comsumption more so than other cars (although the A2 is the first car ive had with a fuel consumption display). I usually ride into work most day though.

I drove mine home the other day between 65 and 90 mph for 400 miles.
it averaged 48 mpg,its a tdi 90 for your info.
curious if its goign to stay the same with lower revs but extra urban instead

I typically get 53-54mpg - 25% short trips, 75% commute (dual carriage way and town driving). It's been consistent pre and post ECU re-map.

But last week I had to drive on a 150 mile trip from home to Waftord and the DIS recorded 67.2 mpg. That was with a lightish foot and 'going with the flow (60-65 mph) on the M4/M25. On the return leg, driving in heavy rain and wind it dropped to 64 mpg. So it is possible to get the type of mileage claimed! Well impressed!!!

I recently completed my first tank in my new 2005 1.4 petrol SE and got 47mpg. Pretty good for starters

accurate mpg?

I have had my A2 1.4TDi since November 2006. Since then I have put a total of 319.71 gallons of fuel, and covered a total of 19,723 miles. I make that an impressive 61.7mpg.

This covers a daily commute part motorway part queue to get over Runcorn bridge, and other random stuff, pretty average mix I would say.

I did download some met office data for the liverpool area (nearly all driving is in the liverpool area), and funnily the only correlation between mpg and weather was humidity. High humidity in the region showed a strong correlation to higher mpg. There was no correlation with temp, rain, wind or anything else.

Trips with the roof rack knocked the mpg down to in the 50's, but these trips were holidays (getting to and from - took it off when there and dotting about) so mostly motorway which may explain why it managed to stay so high.

Overall there is also a drop off of mpg as you get closer to needing a service - I am on the variable long life.

When I work out how I can post the excel sheet of data if people want.

Hi Nabuzzard,

May I suggest Google Docs. You can import an Excel spreadsheet, publish the table and then create a link to it from your postings to this site. A few of us have done it that way.

John.
