A2OC Donor
A friend of mine who's admired my A2 for a while finally got his hands on one that fit the bill just before Christmas. It was spotted and discussed by the folks of this forum; DJ190 even considered buying it for his good lady.
It was being sold by Paul, a regular A2 TDI trader and background member of the club. When I went to look at it, I found that it had all manner of little faults, so we did a deal on that basis. I have since been working my way through the list of jobs. Despite having a faulty CCCU, being in need of a cambelt change, having the worst condition climate control panel the world has ever known, etc, I couldn't turn down such a gem.
It's a 2003MY TDI75 SE with all the Sport options, OpenSky, rear electric windows, RNS-D, 6-Disc changer, the winter pack and leather/alcantara trim.
It's currently got 92k on the clock, having been serviced 6 or so times.
After buying it, it went straight to Vince for a thorough service and a remap. It's one of the most powerful AMF engines Vince has ever seen, cleanly pumping out 190lbft of torque and 112bhp. Before the remap, it developed 86bhp.
So far, I've done various maintenance jobs, have added an iPod connection to the stereo and have changed its wheels. However, there's still plenty to do. Cruise control needs to be added and David, my friend, would like the floppy wiper. It's also got various bodywork issues that need attention; you'll see in the photos below that the lower section of the front bumper is very pale. There's also some evidence of prior damage to the N/S/R door, etc.
Needless to say, having previously driven a Daewoo Lanos, he's absolutely delighted with it!
Cheers,
Tom
