New A2 Model?

There was a small article in the Daily Mirror last week saying that Audi are putting the finishing touches to a completely new model A2 to replace the current model. Is there any truth in this?
 
I don't think so.

Some think I am genius,
Others just can't think...
 
I`ve heard there will be a facelift for the A2 sometime next year. No complete new car but some small things.

My Audi dealer told me that later this year a new A2 model will be available in the UK. Extra body styling and colour coded interior, with two tone leather much like the colour concept models in the VW group.
 
Colour.storm is only availible in 1,6 FSI in the UK! So no diesel option at all! Stupid... An all new A2 is not planned at all in the VW Group scheme of things... small cars asuch as A2 will be done by SEAT and VW... Audi to move up and A3 to be smallest... Stupid move again IMHO.

I saw at the weekend that a facelifted A2 will be available end summer '03, which means that they have introduced the storm only for it to be out of date!!!!! I guess journos bored and making stuff up.
 
I asked the question when i bought mine a fortnight ago and i was told no replacment just phased out with the last factory orderable car being 1st December 2003
 
so then the rumors are true?

this is the last year of the A2?

hello,

a new A2 comes 1.4 TDI with 66 kw/90 hp in fall.
In addition, the A2 gets a new service flap with lamellae.
It is introduced in Frankfurt on the IAA in September.

DieselA2.

Diesel A2 1,4TDI
Open Sky, BOSE, FIS, GRA, Leather
 
I heard A2 to stay in production until 2005... with a mild facelift introduced at Frankfurt. Yours truely is going to the show the 20th of September so will report on any changes soon after!

They are HUGE sur le continent. It is conservative uK that does not appreciate the design and benfits.

My friend has connections with the Alcan company in Sweden and he's heard that this is the last year of production of the A2!! As said before it hasn't been a commercial success!! Hence the Colour Storm models. I s'pose it's a last chance. Also comparisons with the A-Class, that model is a sales success.

Audi should have built an "S2"!!
 
i don`t think Audi will invest in a car, giving it a new service-flap, new engine (1.4 TDI 90ps), introduction Colour.Storm, when this year is the last year it will be build.

A2rijder: I agree wholheartedly. 2005 is the date I heard. Though they don't sell brilliantly every single one sold is profit for Audi. They are NOT selling them at a loss. So to get as much return on their investment as possibble they will keep building it until 2005... a STANDARD 8 year model cycle as normal.

hopefully i'll be able to pick up a couple more before they end production...

would love to have one in california!

the opensky roof would rawk da house!
