I have become the owner of a 2000 pine green A2 1.4 back in December. The car has been far from faults free, but I still love the car regardless of that, within 3 months of ownership I have had to change the anti roll-bar (to updated version), bushes and drop-links. The front driver side suspension spring snapped 3 weeks after that when I was getting off a speedbump (very slowly), so the front springs and top mount bearings have to be changed. The passenger side front door strap was changed because it was making a lot of noises, now the driver side is developing similar noise but not too serious at the moment.
Now the alarm start going off randomly in the middle of the night or early morning. I have tried to read the fault codes from the CCCU, but VCDS keep telling me "No communication to module" when I try to read from module 46 (other modules were fine). I have tried to do a hard reset by disconnecting the battery, but with no luck. I am not sure what I can do about that now. The windscreen also has to be changed at some point due to a massive stone chip out of nowhere (just my luck).
I was planning to keep my A2 for a while, but I just wish ownership has been cheaper and easier.
