New head unit and DIS

Howdee!

Just a quick question. If I replace my Concert II head unit with another non Audi OEM unit, how does this affect the DIS display?

Those with DIS will know that the upper third of the DIS screen displays info about the audio system - radio station, CD track number etc. Will this be lost if I replace the head unit?

Phil. TDi Sport, silver, with Climate and OpenSky.

As far as I know, there is no third-party Head unit that "speaks" the necessary Audi-CAN-Protocol to talk to the DIS-Display. The upper part of the DIS will simply stay blank....

...apart from when it turns orange with the normal warning signals (ie headlamp bulb out, washer fluid low etc)! LOL
