Yes the fogs are not standard on the Sport model. They were a dealer option. Sone people retrofit them too (i had mine retrofitted by Timmus).

As for the car being taxed. Be careful. The tax is not transfered to the new owner so you will need to tax it as soon as you can. It will remain taxed until the end of the month that the DVLA are informed of the change of ownership. So you should be ok to get home but you must tax it before the end of December for January onwards.

You can do that online using the small form you will get from the previous owner. (The slip from the back part of the V5 log book). Make sure that you get that slip.
When you tax it the system will electronically check the MOT and ensure that the car has insurance cover.
Do get it insured before you collect the car, indurance is vital (regardless of any fine etc. it is in your own best interest to be fully insured)

it is great that you have found a good A2. You will enjoy owning it.

We ate all looking forward to seeing some pictures and details!!

Keep an eye on here and eBay. There amazing bargains to be had and you'll get a set of alloys with good tyres if you're patient or lucky or both for less than the cost of 4 mid range tyres from the big retailers.

I can recommend my friends garage Cammy refers to. It's in Glengarnock Ayrshire so you'd need to drop the car off and head back up to Glesga on the train. But we've learned a bit about the A2 this last few years and for servicing and maintainence I've no hesitation to point you in thir direction. No less than i would some other well recommended business like Stealth Racing or A2Cars

But Gordon and Garnock MOT Centre is 'much ' closer to you and has very high standards.

If you wish to stay local A4Audi in Scotstoun gets a good name. The techs are mainly ex VAG group. Plus you could look at the Glasgow VW owners Club for their recommendations too.

Good luck with your new motor and a warm welcome to A2OC

Tax and insured online before I picked it up Steve.

Thanks for the recommendations murdo. The only one of those I know is A for Audi. I've heard good things from people I know. Only thing with them is that they probably charge a lot more than smaller garages that are still good.

Welcome to the forum. Regards mileage, absolutely no reason for you TDI to keep running past 250k+.

Change oil and filter every 10k miles. I use Castrol Edge 5w30. Costco normally have it on offer so stock up. Timing belt needs done every 4-5 years or 60-75k miles, whichever is sooner. Change water pump too. Lastly, consider changing transmission oil after 100k miles.
