New owner of not just another small city car.

No, it's not a bad thing. There are two 1.4 petrol engines, depending on year of make.

I'm so sorry steaman! Totally forgot about you.

The Bosch twin aero blade really did the difference, works like a charm.

One more question. The backseet lights arent working, the green light on the buttons work but not the light itself so I changed both bulbs, however still not working. Any idea? Everything else is working just fine.

The rear interior light is supplied from the same fuse as the one in the front. It should only be to turn it on by the switch in the front or rear interior light.

It doesn't come on unfortunately. I will try with a multimeter and see if there is any power, perhaps the button itself is broken.

Daniel

Hi often the connector to the rear light unit gets poor and often needs a clean/adjustment. If you tap the unit does it come on? cheers mike

Tried tapping it, nothing. Is it supposed to go on when you open the boot?

Matt: many thanks for the link, next weekend in the daylight I will see if mine has the same weak joint.

By the way, I filled up with wiper fluid today....the size of that tank must be sooo small :)

You have an interior light in the boot that comes on when the tailgate is open.

The rear interior light comes on when the door is open, or manually (if yours is not even coming on when you manually try to switch it on then you probably have the fault that was highlighted in the link above)#
The washer fluid tank is not large but it should last a while, unless you are using it more than usual due to ice/snow/mud etc.
\it is not normally something that people find to be too small (at least in the UK?)

He might have Headlight Washers, it was almost standard on Swedish cars 10 years ago.

Ah yes, good point, they drain the tank very quickly because the headlamp washers come on every time (unless you just do a quick pull of the washer arm!).

Cheers

They do? I thought they would only come on with the light switch turned on to dipped beams. All the way to right, on a Swedish car.
I don't know about the A2, but on my 2005 passat, the duration of the headlight spray could be adjusted with VCDS.

I promised a photo earlier of the A2 I bought at a very reasonable price. (ugly winter rims on though)

Thanks to searching the forum, and the kind help by forum members I have managed to fix the small but annoying defects there were:
* Installed an after market stereo (which isn't connected to the ignition)
* Changed the wiper (to a long Bosch one which really does the job)
* Installed the Heko wind deflectors
* Got the boot microswitch and boot light working (WD40 and toothbrush)
* Got the rear interior light working (new soldering on the back light unit, dry joint)

Good work!
My car has its dowdy winter steel wheels on too so don't feel too bad! Come spring time you can put it's nice sparkly alloys on and it'll look fab.

Also now:

* Changed to LED interior lights.
* Changed most of the aircon unit buttons

Does anyone know how to give the boot lid hydrolics a bit of loving? The boot goes up really slow and when closing it the hydrolic arms can not quiet handle weight of the hatch.
