hi have tried to register on here for months only managed to do so now..

i have a tdi90 in blue...bought for 300 pounds, it had a voltek spoiler as the only mod...
i work as a wheel specialist and gona use this to cart wheels about as im rural based../
, iv stripped most of the interior out of it and weighed most parts to ducment as im trying to see how light i can make it. so far iv stripped 78kilos out of it and the goal is 850kgs.. and as close to 100mpg as possible...

il also be swapping the turbo and manifold for one from a pd130 and doing a few other mods to it..

il add pictures here and start an owners thread in due course..

iv lusted after one of these for years.. to the amusment of most of my mates.. who afectionatly call it the Gay2
but iv had the car 2 weeks and i love how much character the 3 pot has and how troquey it is.. dont plan on selling this car...

Hello and welcome to a helpful and friendly club Enzo. Please keep us updated with your future mods and perhaps post some photo,s of your car.

Cheers
Dave:)

no problem.. i do plan to do both.. iv spent hours on this forum so far and have to say.. its a minted forum..

Thankyou for your kind comment... we all try to help each other and "how to" section is invaluable. One of the best things for a Tdi 90 is a remap... increases its power from 96BHP to around 116BHP.... great car !.:)

rather than the pd130 turbo , that you have to cut one runner off , ive been playing around with a gt1749v turbo that only needs a mounting plate fabricating to fit a 3 cylinder amf manifold as has the same 3 bolt flange as the amf turbo just slightly larger dimentions and the advantage of being a vnt

Sounds an interesting project. Looking forward to seeing this one develop. A set of pepperpots will help with the insprung weight if you are after the mpg figures.

Have you come up with a plan to operate the variable vane system ? if not, this old post may be a good starting point - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthrea...tdi-90-turbo-setup-on-amf&p=233578#post233578

Cheers Spike

thanks for the thought spike,
Yes ive done loads of research over the past 6months , i was planning on using a vnt turbo N75 valve and use the TDI 90 maps N75 control to work the variable vein.. just a little heads up though that unless your planning on some serious port work on the cylinder head there would not be much point changing out the BV39 turbo as youl never get any real gains from a bigger turbo in my opinion with out increasing airflow, a good session on a rolling road would do wonders and as your saying your after mpg...
I also purchased a 1.4 bluemotion turbo and still humming and harring on which way to go .. bigger turbo more lag , less mpg or going with stock turbo as i was so impressed on how much power my tdi has now and plenty enough fun as 0 to flat out in any gear and still over 50mpg how ever hard i drive ..

yea thats a shout.. i do like the look of them.....if anyone reaqding has any for sale??

at the moment im sourcing some steel 16" wheels froma bora.beetle. golf that im gona stick some nankang 165.45 section skinnies on them... should take a bit of resistance out of the rolling. and also knock down the rolling radius..
after i might band them.

@Jigsaw.

im using a gt1749va turbo which i already have. as its also vnt you can get a bar of boost at 1800rpms on an amf so it wont hur lag...
.il make a decat pipe.. and also i have a 1.6berlingo hdi cooler which i will mount to the front

im obsessed with atleast 250lbft of torque.. the bhp figure im not fussed about.. il use an upgrated g6o clutch, my only problem is with the flywheel as i head the standard ones are balanced as its a 3pot.. i dont think this should matter using a solution from the 4 pot motor.... but thats where iv got too regarding this..

Ive seen that turbo mentioned alot on the tdi forums as a upgrade , just a we bit bigger turbines and a great choice for the PD100 from what ive read on the 4cylinder pd's ,Just remember we are 1 cylinder down so takes a little longer  A guy on the german A2 forum was getting 150 bhp with a larger vnt turbo fitted and a runner cut off , forget his name, ive a link somewhere.. are 3 pots use a balancer shaft to even out the 3 cylinders and as your already running a dmf flywheel youve many choices for an upgrade as youv the larger bell housing , I did come accross larkspeed who do uprated driveTorque clutches but not much feed back on them , but id say check to see what the guys on the tdi forum are using as would be more than enough on are 3 pots ..

look forward to reading more of your progress
