Hi we brought our colour storm a few months ago now It's a 1.6fsi but it's had a hesitation problem on it since we brought it. Runs lovely when you get the revs up over 3k and is quick and smooth but below that it's sluggish and not as nice to drive. We took it to a VAG specialist for a full service and they told us they could find no faults on it at all but that the engine was a BAD code engine which was a combination of old and new technology could anyone tell me if these engines are as the engine code suggests BAD engines and would it be worth sourcing a newer 1.6fsi engine from a golf or audi a3 to put correct the problems?

I think that you have suffered from the assumption that Audi Dealers know the A2, many of the mechanics will not have had much experience on them since they were not sold after 2005, so many of the Audi Mechanics possibly don't understand them in any detail.

The A2 FSI engine does suffer from some faults that give exactly the symptoms of your car. But they are fixable and when they have been fixed you will LOVE the performance. So please don't think that BAD means bad.

Get someone with a VCDS cable near you and carry out a full scan, that is likely to throw up some misfire errors or similar. There is also a very common fault that involves a flap on the inlet manifold and the coils can play up. But all fixable.

Congratulations on buying a FSI Storm, you will grow to love it even more when you get the low rev problem resolved.

The hesitation problem could be a quick and easy fix and probably doesn,t merit an engine change. If you are close to WOM automotive then it,s worth a call in and a chat to see if they can offer any advice. From reading other threads it could well be that you have a simple air leak somewhere.

Thanks for your replies. Think I'm going to get it booked in at psi tuning and get it plugged into vag-com on their rolling road

If you are near stoke then go to wow-automotive. They did a rebuild on my FSI and they know more about this engine than anyone else I know of.

Hi cbh I've messaged Rob but he hasn't got back to me. We brought our A2 from WOM. I've been to psi tuning and they've told me it's probably the coolant temp sensor as this is a common fault on the fsi engines.
