Next Project - Heated Leather TT front Seats

Don't have part numbers, the harness is from Kufatec "A3 heated seat harness 8L" and the heater controls are from a facelift 2003 A3 8L and I'm going to remove the electronics for the A3 controls and put my A2 ones in the place of them and keep the heated seat controls in the ends.

Hi Craig,
Great job in short time ! As usual :)

how's the seating position compared to the A2 seats ?
height, inclination of seat base ?
Are the headrests swappable ?
Do you have by chance a picture of the back of the seats ?
No storage net option at the back, in the TT, I guess...
How does the side of the seat visually integrate in the A2 ? Big gap or not ? plastic trim "parrallel" to carpet ?

Thanks :)

Nice-looking seats - they look far more "cosseting" than the standard A2 seats with those deeper side panels to hold you in better.
I remember the sports seats in my A4 Avant were really nice, they had an adjustable front squab too to move the bit you sit on to fit better to the length of your legs.

Are they much heavier than the A2 seats? Mind you, nothing could be heavier than the A2 rear bench seat - crazy heavy for a car that was all about weight saving!

Let us know how you get on with the heater controls. I was very lucky to have secured an OEM A2 climate panel with heated seat controls for the middle position (ie. not the double-DIN location). I bought a pre-made retro-fit heated seat loom off a supplier on Ebay Germany which Sarge was kind enough to wire in for me, along with some extra fuses into the main fuse box.

Ok, got the seats in, ordered the heater controls and wiring loom. SO next weekend maybe....

I've got double DIN, so no good to me. My wiring loom arrived today, so that was quick, ordered Sunday night. Just awaiting the climate controls, but I can fit the wiring ready if it's delayed.

It's £45 for the cubby hole with the heated seat option, but you would also have tio buy your heated seat switches as this is just the holder.

I think you can see all of this in the original installers posts, yes there is a gap and it's only noticeable because of the steel and bolts. I'm going to paint it black to blend in.

Not seen the back anywhere...
And cannot judge from the pictures on how high and inclinated the seat base is, when you sit on it, compared to A2 seats...

Aircon from the A3 8L arrived today, it's not a direct replacement for an A2 (pity) as the A3's air con is far more complex. But the body and faceplate fittings are identical. So I took the faceplate off the A3 controls and removed the heated seat switches (seperate units).

Then I took a hacksaw and a hand plane to the A3 panel and shaped it into the A2's panel shape as best I could. Fitted the A2 electronics and back to it and installed the heated seats.

This is what it looks like with the wiring harness, old aircon and new aircon fitted.

Craig
Just spotted the Eco button
Thought that was only on the 1.2 tdi's or do you have a 'new' use for it?

Also I think I remember somewhere that the buttons 'pop' off and can be replaced individually. You might swap them over to the new panel?

J

New air con panel buttons are worse than my buttons were, hence why I still have the stickers on.

I will keep a look out for a decent panel.

The ECO button was used for SDS before I put the MFSW in place, so it doubles up now. Couldn't be bothered to swap it back.

Heated seat harnesses in place, wired in and tested.... illuminated switches
