VW to phase out unprofitable Lupo und Audi A2 models, says chairman...
WOLFSBURG, Germany (AFX) - Volkswagen AG chairman Bernd Pischetsrieder said the company will not produce successors for unprofitable models such as the VW Lupo and the Audi A2.
In an article to be published in tomorrow's Die Welt newspaper, Pischetsrieder said he wants to reorganise the company's model cycle.
It made no sense to have "bread and butter cars" such as the Golf and the A6 replaced by new models at the same time, he said.
A new management committee for product planning, under his control, will ensure that VW avoids costly and erroneous developments, he said.
