Occasional lumpy engine response 1.4 Petrol

Every once in a while the engine will start up but sound quite rough, like there's a cylinder off or something... coupled with that it's utterly gutless, probably get a maximum speed of about 65-70, flat out, foot to the floor.

To cure it, I have to pull over, turn the engine off, wait for say 15-20 secs, restart and it's fine... say for another 6-8 weeks or so, then it'll do it again. Doesn't really bother me too much as it's easily remedied, but I thought I'd ask the knowledge people on here out of blind curiosity.

As you may know, the engine is defaulting to 'limp home mode' under certain operating conditions and this will trigger fault codes. Suggest you have a diagnostic scan which should show what the problem is.
If you are ever over in the Richmond area I could do a scan for you.
