Oil filler pipe leaking.

I have just done an oil & filter change on my father's tdi 90. When I took the undertray off there was a patch of oil on it and there was oil on the bottom of the sump and going up towards the oil filter housing. When filling the car back up with oil it was pouring all over the floor so I followed the small corrugated hose that is connected to the filler and found a big split in it.
Has this happened to anyone else?
To fix it I removed the flimsy corrugated hose and put some coolant hose I had lying around on it. Im not sure the connection on the bottom end of the hose (near the oil filter housing) is sealing properly as I didnt have enough room to get to the jubilee clip properly... Is there some sort of one way valve to stop oil going back up this pipe? If not then it's going to continue to leak? but if there is it's only going to leak when i top/fill up.

Cheers

Thanks for your reply spike, suppose i need to do a better job of fixing it then!
It's a shame that picture doesn't how exactly how it connects to the container, I couldnt pull the corrugated pipe off so im not sure how it connects. So I just pulled it along the split and it ripped it off but leaving the end connected. I just pushed another hose over it and tried to put a jubilee clip over it but it was too tight to get in there to tighten it properly. Perhaps i need to remove components from around it so i can get to it properly.

cheers

Hi there, this happened to my A2 last year- I kept noticing oil patches where I was parked. When I had her serviced the mechanic found out where the leak was from, it was a bit of a fiddly job he told me and charged me £140!! I cant remmber of the top of my head what he had to do but if you havent already fixed it I can find out and let you know.

Not fixed it (properly) yet, So if you could find out that would be ace, thank you.
I was hoping to just jubilee clip a piece of hose in its place properly hope it's not something more serious!

cheers

turns out I have a minor leak here, too; I filled a complete liter of oil in and it seems fine. I will get it sorted as soon as I can (which is probably going to be October now...) and get the oil flushed and replaced at the same time.

I had this problem too but it was because my hose was left unattached when i had the cambelt done. I say buy a new hose from audi because the hose is self- locking where it's attached to the engine. Alternatively a breaker on Ebay might will have one.

Thanks, I`ve fired off an e-mail to Audi. Lets see if they come back.

Did you have to buy a new hose or ust reconnect it. Any idea how much they were from Audi?

The hose itself can`t be much more than a few quid if bought from a hardware store but I`m guessing those "self-locking" connectors you mention will mean Audi will try and charge quite a bit for it.

Yeah, the hose probably cost as much as a pack of matches to make but Audi will charge a premium no doubt. Some of the big lads pointed me in the right direction Dan'b & Skipton as to repare my detatched hose, they may know how much it cost new.

O.k so I bought a new pipe from audi. Unfortunately you have to buy the oil pipe and the dipstick tube as a complete part. Tried to fit it today and couldn`t unscrew the torx screw holding the pipe in place.

Has anyone sucessfully changed their oil filler pipes or got any tips/tricks on the best way to unscrew it?

Getting leverage in there is hard with a std screwdriver.

I have noticed I have the same problem today, has been bodged before so time to sort it out properly.(One of many fixes that need fixing)
Anyone worked out how this pipe comes off yet?
Looked to me to be a bit like a push fit plumbing fitting on the end.
Part number would be good as well as Audi website is a bit useless.
Thanks Stuart.

Held in by a torx screw. Maybe t30 can't remember. Easiest to use a very long Nut driver with flexible hose. Makes it a doddle to undo as you can access from near the radiator.

well got my new pipe but still cant work out how to get the old one off.
I can feel a bolt just below where the pipe goes into the oil filter housing and it does take a torx fitting but is so tight its just broken my bit.
Cant see how this would hold the pipe on anyway.
Can someone please let me know if this is the right bolt or am I looking in the wrong place.
Thanks Stuart.

On the 1.6 the oil pipe connects with the dipstick and are both held in place by the screw mentioned above. Have you got a diesel?

1.4 TDI Oil Filler Pipe

Also have the same problem on my 2002 1.4 TDI. Cannot remove the tube from the Engine. I purchased a new tube for £80 hoping it would help me figure out how it is fixed but still none the wiser. Anyone any ideas?

I ended up getting this set. Felxible bit driver set. Makes it very easy to unscrew as you can access from the front service flap area.

Thanks for your help. I will order those today. I can see one Hex bolt near the tube. Is it just that one bolt that needs to be removed? I can see two more of those which appear to be holding the oil filter housing on. Does that need to come off? Or am I looking at the wrong bolt?

On the FSI the oil filler hose is also attached to the dipstick hose and that one hex bolt you can see is the only thing holding it in place. I didn`t need to remove the oil filter when I replaced the filler hose on my car.
