Oil pressure sender and switch

Hi Guys

I have been reading threads on oil pressure warning lights on the forum and I think I need to have sender changed on a 04, FSI.
Is oil pressure sender/sensor and switch the same?
I cannot do the job myself as I have no tools and do not have a mechanical brain.
Roughly how much should I expect the garage to charge me for the job?

I shall be thankful for all replies and advice.

Hi Gerrit,

The oil pressure switch is the same for both the 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines.
Cost is around £15 from a dealer
You should be charged 30 minutes labour to remove and refit
The part, on a 1.4 petrol, is shown below and is located front right of the engine.

The part is circled in red bottom right:

I hope this helps

Thanks Spike,

I was just confused that oil pressure "sender", "sensor" and "switch" are three different names for the same device.

It is the red oil can that flashes. It beeps and flashes intermittently after driving for about 5 miles or so. Took it to the main dealer for diagnostics, charged £160 and could not find the fault. Technician say that the warning light was not on when he did the test.
Local VAG independent will not change the sender before they also do the diagnostics and charge me £60 for that.

I will have a go and change the sensor myself and see if it cures the fault.

Many Thanks
