One for the Mums and Dads!

We have lived with a 4 seat A2 with two boys for the last 4 years. Space hasnt really been an issue.

We now have another on the way, has anyone ever fitted 3 seats in the rear of a bench seat 5 seater A2

2 will be the smaller stage 2/3 seats, that look more like regular booster seats but with a back and the belts just pull across plus one for the baby, 3 seats in total.

Just curious if we could get a 5 seater and make it work?

We'd only need room in the back for one pushchair for the new arrival, as the boys walk everywhere now.

Hi Wampa
In our car we have run with our two kids in their stage 2/3 seats plus a teenager in the middle space on the bench rear. There is just about sufficient room but it's not exactly luxurious. I'd say on that basis it's probably just about doable, provided you had a later model with the bench seat which have the proper 3-point shoulder strap seat belt for the middle; ours just has the "cheese wire" lap belt...

We bought our A2 with our first born (now 15 months old) in mind, and it's been great. We have the four seat version, but would really prefer the 5 seater, but understand it's quite difficult to change. So the four seats are fine for now. We have a MacLaren XT push chair, which fits completely in the main section of the boot, with the parcel shelf slid over. So I'd recommend that combination.

We're looking to upgrade our new-born car seat to one that we can use for the next 2.5 or more years. Wife has read up on rear-facing car seats being much safer than front facing, but there are not many available yet in the UK. Anyone got any recommendations on rear facing seats that fit in the A2? We liked the look of the BeSafe Combo iZi Isofix X3, and although it is not recommended for the A2, it does seem to fit OK with the passenger seat moved forward some. Seems to seat our son up quite high too, so he can see out nicely.

Love to hear your recommendations!

Thanks,

-James.

Safe Seat for car (with ISOFix base) and pushchair combo.
We had the Maxi Cosi car baby seat with ISOFix base and the Quinny Zapp..which folds down to nothing which is ideal for tiny boot :)...it comes with adapters for baby seat to just clip onto.

Perfect and seat has great safety record.

Hi,
Re a rear facing seat. We use the britax two way elite. It works fine but does require the passenger front seat to be moved forward quite a bit depending on the incline you want. If the front passenger is 5ft 5 or under you would be fine. I'm 6ft 4 and there is no way I can sit in the front passenger seat. As it is pressed against the back of the front passenger seat you adjust its incline by moving the front seat forward or back. I can dig out a picture later on. I'd say leg room for the child will become an issue in about 6 months at which stage he'll be 2 and a half so we may have to flip it around to forward facing then.
One criticism of the two way elite I'd have is that I dont think it has very good side impact protection.

agree with nick4tl. Leg room for both front passenger and the child will be an issue with rear facing stage 1+ seats. And the practical reason of occasionally picking up drink bottle or toys for the little one, see what he/she is doing at the back, front facing is far better. I understand the extra safety provided by rear facing in the case of a frontal collision, but it is just not practical. I drive slower, safer, watch out far ahead to minimise chances of accidents that I can avoid. And that are mostly frontal impact involved.

For a carseat i highly recommend Acta Graco DuoLogic2, we have two kids now and we have 2 sets, 1 in each car, it works really well in the A2, plus it has wheels at the bottom like a travelluggage so the seat can be pulled just like at luggage at airports n u can also carry it around.
You must check it out. Best thing with it is that it works from 0montg til 4years!! A lot of seat for the money. Super safe!!

Well after looking around and doing our home work ie giving them a push around the shops etc.... we went for this one which the in-laws have offered to pay for which was most kind

PS will write a review once we get using this

Hey Phil, congrats and get some sleep! The most important thing about the buggy for us A2 owners is whether it can fit and still have space in the boot!
