Can someone post up a full detail on the approved lubrication and maintenance procedure for the OpenSky. I think mine would benefit from a bit of attention.

Hello Guys,

I have been reading several threads regarding the opensky problems. I recently got my first A2 1,4 TDI opensky, 2002. A few weeks ago the roof made a starteling noise while closing. It is difficult to describe but it sounded like a cable grinding over a loose pulley. Or something like that.
Today the roof started pulling only on one side (LH). I wpould hardly close and I had to pursuade it with my available hand. The sound it made has now increased in volume and appears whenever the roof is moved initialy. Meaning when it starts moving from closed, when the second plate begins to move, men the second plate is pulled into closed position, and when the forward plate is pulled down to the finale closing move.
I am so sad this has happend. I love my A2 and especially the opensky system. It is unquestionably the best car i have had.

Anyway, where can i get a hold og this notorious repair kit? I plan to attempt the repair myself. It MUST be possible.

Repair kits are only available from Audi. One is listed in this post but I think there is another so its worth checking with your dealer - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showpost.php?p=98673&postcount=41

open sky continues

Hi All
Well Im still with the broken open sky Where I at Now Stafford Audi say it is an uneconomical repair on the car I bought from them at 8500 They said I have to come up with a figure "to live" with the problem they suggest £500 or they will buy the car back So basically no solution yet This is a nightmare Surly Audi should be trying to sort this out Everyone just says the kit wont do interesting your at 2300 I;m at 3000

If I were you I would sell it back to them...give them the trouble of reselling it with a brokensky....you could get a nice A2 privately for a lot less than 8500 and have some change to service the new one's open sky so it doesnt break hopefully ;-)

Hell yes, sell it back to them. Let them deal with it if they don't show you any goodwill.
