I have now accidentally noticed that if I always pull the door handle twice, either inside or outside with the car unlocked, both pillar switches light up and the lights on buzzer works too!
This may only be a short time fix, if the switch is on its way out the last thing you want is it to fail and you have to do alot more damage to sort the problem, as they tend to fail in the closed/locked position, but it could also last a few years the risk is up to you as i waited a year then started to hear the story's of these failing with the door locked
