Hi Guys,
I have a big problem with my A2. the car have more then 300.000kms, 2 days ago when i tried to start the car the engine refused to start. i notice that the problem was that the key wasn't recognize anymore. i searched in internet for all possible solutions but noone worked. i contacted audi for have a new key, but will requide a lot of time.
searching in internet how to turn on engine of the cars despite immobilizer of the key out of order, i discovered that almost every car have an emergency procedure for start engine in case key code don't work. i tried somes but didn't work on my A2. do you know how work the emergency procedure for start the engine of A2?
thx a lot

Aleksandra

How many keys do you have? The transponder pickup coil around the ignition barrel has been known to fail as has the cable running up the steering column to it. The immobiliser can be disabled using VCDS, do you have this?

pity i have just one key, the one that don't work anymore:( no i don't have vcds:( but i have a code of the key that maybe can be used for activate emergency start procedure...but how can i use it?

I'd guess the key transponder is not the problem though without VCDS you are going to have trouble fixing this. Best I can suggest is stripping the steering column to check continuity of the transponder pickup coil and associated wiring. Key code will not help, VCDS will be required to disable the immobiliser. Whereabouts in Poland are you, it's possible there is a member nearby with VCDS. Alternatively, a good auto electrician may be able to assist.

emergency start procedure
I'm sorry to say that there is no such procedure. If there was an emergency start procedure that allowed you to bypass the immobiliser, the immobiliser would be useless, as criminals would simply use the emergency start procedure to steal your car.

Which engine is fitted to the car, please?

Cheers,

Tom

I’m not aware that you can disable the immobiliser using vcds. There is a way to disable it but it does not use vcds to do it and I would not discuss how to do it on an open forum for fear of a ‘friendly’ car thief finding the information
