Rear Axle Bushes

Hello,

As some other users are taking care of their rear axle and I need to do the same with my A2:

1. Does anybody used bushes from Fabia RS ( 6Q0501541E available as MEYLE 100 710 0008/S)? Those are full rubber ones and I reckon that will provide the best lifespan after installation.

What is worrying for me - is that apart from bushes from Audi Tradition, non of available ones is listed for A2...

An Audi A2 has a kerb weight of around 1000 kg and a Fabia RS, depending which model, 1400kg. I suspect your suggested bush will be too stiff for an A2. I believe some members have fit Polo bushes and reported the ride is acceptable.
A2 bushes are no longer available.

I fitted Powerflex bushes at the rear but, they were not the correct information size. Luckily when I contacted there tech dept and with a few drawings & images they machined another set to the correct dimensions so it could be the only A2 on rear Powerflex rear bushes.
They were advertised as being for the Audi A2 / Polo etc.
The diameter was correct but the width with the ferrule, larger washer & bushe was too big to fit in the opening.
Stan.

Phil. Are you suggesting the ones on Audi Tradition are not particularly for the A2

7zap lists the part number for my TDi 75 2004 as 8Z0 501 541

I didn't know they were still available via Tradition. I know Audi no longer supply them and neither does Febi. Febi supplied genuine bushes with the VAG branding removed. Perhaps new ones are no longer manufactured and Tradition are clearing old stock?
Grab a couple while you can

I think they are rubber. Many people are going for nylon. In another thread I've asked Drew if the nylon ones are what some manufacturers call Elastomer.

Do those going for nylon/Elastomer feel that they give a better ride, or longer life? Drew seems to imply they are easier to fit as the nylon compresses more easily. That implies a softer ride.

The Powerflex bushes were easy to fit in the axle but a pain to get into position between the casting under the car. As I said the machined them to size for me. The ride is good on them too.
If I can find the details I sent to them I'll forward it on to you just in case.
