I will ask them about the jacking points, the thought of losing one scares the heck out of me!!!

Steve,

Have you seen my thread regarding this concern of yours? I have not, and will not, ever lose the cover. It was so simple to simply use a tie-wrap loop through the back of the cover to the side-moulding. The cover is always retained and

it just hangs down if you are jacking-up the vehicle. Recently, for some reason, it had come lose, I was at a filling-station and glanced down to see it just hanging. A quick push to re-locate and all was well!

I sent the pictures of the spoiler to the manufacturers and initial feedback is not great.

In GRP it would require a lot of tooling to manage the mould.

Ballpark figure is around £4,000 and the end cost per unit would be in the region of £300.

That is a bit more than I think we should be aiming at.
Yes it would mean that people could then have a Votex style rear spoiler, where they are currently unavailable, but that cost is just a bit too high.

So I will be exploring some other options to see if we can get the price down to just under £200, to me that is much more appropriate.
At this lower cost I m assuming that there would be more spoilers required and that would help reduce the cost.

So I am nowhere near giving up on this yet, but I will have to have a dig around, perhaps alternative materials might be the answer?
Anyone an expert on 3D printing? That would be an ideal option if it would work on something of this size and shape.

The other downside is that the process to make the mould will damage the very spoiler I have taken so long to find!
But I can always have one of the "improved" spoilers that will have the pat number impression removed!!!

More soon.

Not sure if it would be too labour intensive but is feasible to build them 'surfboard style' based around a foam core. May even be possible to offer a kit for hand finishing and painting by the purchaser.

Cheers Spike

Hi Spike,

Yes, that is an option, after all they are basically a plastic skin with a foam core anyway.

I need to find someone who deals with that kind of construction. I will see what I can come up with.

Still struggling to find someone who can make the spoilers.

I have contacted Audi (the right department I believe) to ask about options (such as buying the mould, some special runs etc.

I guess it will take a long time before I get a response, but I will try every avenue, there are so many people that want these it would be great to help that happen.

For those who are desperate, try making your own.. :D

Hi guys
I'm looking for a Votex spoiler. It doesn't matter if original or replica.
Is it still possible to purchase one?

Cheers Sohnemann

I have a Votex kit on my car, less the spoiler, I would love to get the car up to spec.
Did this project die a death?

Hi Guys,

I do indeed have the mould to make the rear spoilers but due to work commitments and time involved unless I could take 10 confirmed buyers paying a deposit, I simply haven't got the time, it really is a lot of time for me with not a lot of profit to be totally honest.
The cost of each spoiler in primer would be £335 each piece.

I would have thought that with 3D printing becoming more and more common, that would be the way to move forward.
For complete Votex kit, not only the rear spoiler.
Of course, intelectual property rights need to be taken into account, because it could easily happen that ''nice'' letter from Audi lawers would find its way to the maker.

I already have written consent from Audi directly approving my tooling. obviously there are a couple of do and donts but all in all no issue with the legal side.

I'd gladly take one of this was ever to become a reality. No issue with paying a deposit.
