Refurb/replacement bits for the metal pipe bit going around engine TDI90

Hi all,

Could you advise what bits i need to order - essentially the rubber shock absorbing washer/bit has perished and cracked as well as the second plastic/rubbery harder bit(this one is cracked up) that hold the bracket at 90degree to the another bit of metal bolted to engine block? (borrowed picture from another topic but part looks identical on TDI75 and TDI90). I'll snap another picture when I'm home unless weather decides i am not allowed to work on the car today as well.

Makes the engine sound really bloody irritating with that pipe/bracket rattling around the engine bay...

My metal bracket has snapped in the same place(fatigue I guess).previous owner used a zip tie!.I am going to fabricate an "l" bracket and bolt into place. The pipes are similar on 75/90 but the 90 is shorter between the mount point and intake

Best thing to do is to fabricate a bracket as suggested, looks like this is a weak link as mine had snapped completely too.I made one up using a L Shaped bracket i had laying about and used a big rubber washer inbetween the fixing point, not a difficult job to be honest

Thanks
Pete

Thanks Pete, the bracket on mine is fine it is just the plastic/rubber bits that perished and cracked. Was hoping for a nice OEMish solution as previous owner (presumably garage it was taken to) took a more "wing it" approach and quite a few places where the pipe clamps were replaced with screw type it is leaking... stuff.

This may help, not sure if any parts are available. Making your own better mount probably best.

Excellent - it is #15 which seems to be same for golfs and can find these on ebay (bless cheap interchangeable golf parts!).

the bit in picture is perished as well (cracked up) i guess i can see replacing this with a washer of some description... (there is a plastic washer/sheet thingy between the bracket and the bolt - feels very flimsy and brittle possibly due to age).

443 133 741 A quite a few choices on ebay and have one on the way now. 7zap lists alternative bits too but this'll do.

Yes it does look a generic VAG part number and not vehicle specific, unfortunately part #16 does not have a number listed, so hopefully it is OK. Perhaps there is something similar to part #16 also on the Golf, or other VAG. Not sure what other VAGs had the tdi 90 fitted but if they have a similar setup for the charge air inlet you may be in luck. Is it a 75 or a 90? Manual pic for a 90. Just search from there for the 75.

@spike Looking at 7zap is difficult. And although you may very well be correct, that actual bracket appears to locate the over engine sound insulation. Hope it is the same part.

There are 2 fixings on left side & 1 on the right for the engine cover on the 1.4 tdi 75amf , with the rubber isolator lower down.

So to update - the little rubber screwy dinky arrived and i've replaced it - all is well old one had metal bit actually worn through to the middle and quite badly cracked up.

The bracket that connects to engine block is 045103945A and can see a couple on eBay - what i thought to be a plastic washer is a metal insert that holds washer which the bolt goes into to secure to engine block - seems the little weld bit is snapped easy fix if i had a welder which i do not but re-tightening it seems to have done the trick for now. it does a lot more of a controlled wobble than a rattle now and all is well.

Just remembered a minor mod I did to the bracket mounting.
The bolt which fastens the pipe bracket to the alloy lug on the cyl head had excessive free play causing the charge air pipe to vibrate.
I just replaced it with a longer bolt and added a large dia washer and nut on the back side of the alloy lug.

Cheers Spike
