Removing plastic bits around gearlever

I am about to attempt to check the adjustment of my gear change cables and need to get access to the base of the gear lever. Does anyone know how to remove the plastic rounded (collar type) bit that sits around the gear stick?

Many thanks,

Phil

you will need to take the front seats out as it's part of the centre console, which will NOT come out without the seats out.

If you remove both panels on the side of the tunnel and then the upper sections, you may find you have enough access. You'll need to do this anyway.

What guide are you using to adjust the 'change?

... you do NOT need to remove this much. Remove the gaiter, that should suffice. Pull it directly upwards, DO NOT TURN IT, or you won't get it back. It only fits in one place, to within 2mm.

Yes, as Bretti says, just pull upwards - get your finger nails under the chrome bit and pull.

Make a note of the position of the seams in the gaiter so you can put it back in the same postion - as has been said, it only goes in one way.

Cheers,

Mike
