Recently I had my right rear door sensor replaced because moisture seemed to have gotten inside. The repair was covered by the "Audi used car warrenty". The repair was scheduled for one day, but somehow they broke the replacement part and had to order a new one so the repair took two days. I also bought rims for the winter tires and let them mount them, which costed 850 EUR (the rims are damn expensive). I asked for a replacement car during the repair and they offered me a VW Passat.

Yesterday, 2 weeks after the bill for the rims arrived, I got another bill from the dealer about a "rental car for 2 days and 147 km" making a total of 125 EUR. This surprised me a bit because I expected the replacement car to be free of charge.

I just read the fine print of the "Audi used car warrenty" agreement and found that the costs of rental cars are not covered by it, but nevertheless, I bought rims for 850 EUR from them, and that the repair took two days was entirely their fault!

Now I'd like to know: how do your dealers handle replacement cars?

Just realized that in english the term is courtesy car. Never thought about the literal meaning...

As far as I know, Audi only pays for the rental car if your car broke down and is covered under the "Mobilitätsgarantie" (translated "Mobility Warranty"). Otherwise you have to pay for the rental yourself..:-(

In the UK all courtesy cars are FREE. Also this week Tesco are doing custard tarts based on buy one pack and get another for free. These are the two reason why everyone wishes to immigate to Britain. The ultimate experoence of course is to collect your free custard tarts in a free courtesy car. Who needs money ?

Tesco are doing BOGOF on custard tarts?.

Bye, I'm off to Tesco, and maybe pay with my clubcard points. Ultimate free-ness!

Here in the Netherlands in the writing of the audi exclusive it litterely says that you get a replacement car if something is wrong without charge.
We had when our back window was broken for 2 weeks a skoda fabia given to us by the dealer there was no extra charge for this they only asked us to fill it completely with petrol after the period as they gave it completly filled with petrol to us.
So no charge at all.
Last week a minor thing had to be done and I was given for the 2 hours that it would take their demo car of an A4 cabrio I loved it but pitty cant afford it either.

In Portugal we most pay...;P when we need a courtesy car i think a car company such as AUDI have to treat their costumers much better after all an Audi costs mor than an usual car....

My car had a noise from the back, and I left it at the dealer for repair. They gave me a black VW Golf 4 GTI for 2 days, and it was free... :D
So I didn't complain.

In the netherlands during a reparation that is covered by warranty we get a free rental car for four days. Additional days we have to pay. When I bley my turbo I got a nice castlebrown 1.4 A2, but normally you get a Golf or an A3. The repair took 8 days. And since the A2's a company car I didn't have to pay it, if it would be my own car I would refuse to pay the extra rent.
I've also noticed that A8 drivers get a special treatment, they always get an A8 as a replacement car, the drivers of the S line also get somewhat a special treatment in the form of a nicer car.

Whenever my car is in the garage I always get a similar car to my own ie a 1.4 petrol.

If they dont have any A2's in you have to wait till one comes in, as they wont give you the next model up ie an A3
