John Disdale mentioned rusting brake drums.
Having recently bought a new A2, I did not want the same thing happening - at least for a while.
The wheels were off having Toughcote applied to them and the opportunity was taken to paint the drums using a couple of coats of primer (one grey, one red) followed by a two coats of satin black acrylic paint, allowing sufficient time to allow each coat to harden. Needless to say, the job was spread over a couple of days during fine weather.
I got a few funny looks while the car was on 3 wheels!
After a couple of months, the paint is still intact. I don't take any notice of the colour now - it just appears natural. See how long it takes for the rust to come through. I just hope it will last out the winter.
