Service Offered: A2 OSS Sunroof Repair

Not open for further replies.
UPDATE: Sunroof repairs and services are restarting! I'll be in contact with everyone in the order stated in the queue when their turn comes.

Would be great if you were able to attend any of the northern socials and offer sunroof servicing and 'health' checks.
Some events even have barn facilities should the weather be unkind............Thinks - wonder if the Club event tent has enough headroom for those that don't

Cheers Spike

I think the issue will be transporting a refurbished oss from and to venue
They fit on an A2 roof and whilst they will fit inside an A2 it is a very tight fit with a very uncomfortable driving position
Sat on roof bars might be an option

The reason I mention this is that not much can be done to the oss without removing it from the car

It’s easier for me to come to your London base please and also bearing in mind that you promised me a blind for my car please

I think perhaps there has been some confusion here. I think its best if Ian or Adam have a chance to respond to the thread before any further discussions go ahead of them travelling to offer the service. It appears to be causing confusion for their customers.

@Brendanfelix I've added you to the queue, I'll let you know when you're next. @Danssenyonga I'm afraid I already have someone in the second week of April, drop me a PM and we can arrange an alternative date.
This idea of diagnostic work and fixing under a tent is not going to work I'm afraid. Firstly, diagnostics are not needed in the roofs, the problems are common and all are fixed with my repair service. Also, as @depronman correctly pointed out, no work can be done on a roof without removing it, except the motor mount, which I will not fit without the other parts as it's pointless fitting if the internals are broken anyway.

To make it easier just let me know what time in April is it possible then we can take it from there please thanks

Thought it was worth asking but no problem if it's not practical

This extract from Kleynie's post in 2018 was what made me make the suggestion. There was certainly no expectation to remove an OSS on site, even in a barn

2: OSS Service
As given away by the title, a simple service to keep the working roofs working. Includes panel re alignment if needed, re grease, blind cleaning and a check for any breaking pieces in the roof. afterwards I will notify you on whether all parts are factory original or if it has had parts replaced over it's lifetime. The roof does not have to come out for this and it can be done in a matter of around 2 hours. The price of one service is £80.

Cheers Spike

Hi all,

I finished the first sunroof tonight for Mr Birchall, so thought it'd be good to write an official advert for the service in which interest can be listed. So, here are the options:

1: Repair Only
This service fixes any roof to work as it did from factory, through the use of custom parts, designed with reference from the genuine Audi parts which were recently discontinued, as well as a CNC machined, billet aluminium motor mount, which replaces Audi's poor motor mount design. The price including this and fitting into your car is £550.

The repairs use a custom manufactured copy of the genuine Audi parts used to fix sunroofs, with tooth extensions to allow for extra grip of the moving parts. The depronman parts I use are not designed from, nor copied from genuine Audi parts, but I have used them, and they are far better than Audi's solution.

Hi Kleynie, where are you based please ? I'm looking to acquire an A2 with non working sunroof. Thanks

I'd love to use your service but I live in Sweden. Heard of anyone here that can do this? Or would it be possible to buy a full "kit" for doing it myself? Kind regards //R

Hi Ian

You have been recommended by a friend who had her A2 roof sorted. I have an A2 1.4 2002 with 60k miles drives perfect, the roof is jammed. How does one get in touch to bring the car across to you for a quote etc

Thanks
Sue

Hello all,
The need to update this thread has arisen.
I've recently finished my second engineering degree and secured a good full time job, therefore, I am unfortunately discontinuing this service.
That being said, I am aware that there are still bookings to fulfill, and for this reason, I am going to carry out all the jobs needed to complete the queue as it stands at the moment before moving on.
I have a large inventory of OSS parts including many roof frames, custom parts, gaskets etc. I need to get rid of all this, so if anyone is interested in carrying the service on for themselves, I would happily sell the entire inventory and teach someone how to correctly repair a roof using my custom parts. If anyone is interested, drop me a message.
Thank you for all the trust and friendliness you've all shown over the years, it's been a pleasure working on so many unique A2s.
Thanks again,

Adam

Congratulations on the new job Adam. I’m sure many people will be sad to see the service ending, but good luck for the future.

All the very best in your new job Adam and thankyou for all your OSS repair work over the years. Your efforts will be sadly missed along with the family hospitality.
