My car is dying.

It needs a service.
The cabin heater no longer works.
The rear brakes are sticking to the drum every frikking morning even though I leave the handbrake off.
And to top it off my mpg is worse than a range rover v8.

I had started looking to sell and buy another electric car as I was being lazy. But not sure anyone would want my car in its present state. Plus I live in Inverness.

First of all I need a major service kit.
Where to buy as the Stoke Audi links no longer work?

Cheers in advance

Is your car warming up at all? When you say the cabin heater no longer works, do you mean the fans no longer blow or there is no heat coming through?

If it's that the thermostat is knackered and not warming the car up, then your fuel economy will be dramatically affected.

The brakes sticking on could be that your shoes have worn down to the metal and so every day you are breaking the bond of the rust that's been formed overnight. This again will be affecting your fuel economy.

@AudA2Numpty .. You never clarified whether it is the A2 or the Leaf that is the problem ;) . as A2Steve says above, thermostat would be a good starting place to look.. With the AUA as well, fuel consumption is dramatically affected by condition of the throttle body, plugs, cables, coil pack etc; cleaning all of these up and replacing with new components improves the way that the car runs considerably.

The blower is not working but there appears to be heat coming from the vents.

Have removed the glove compartment and will attack those tricky screws for the blower at the weekend. As long as it's not freezing again.

The car temp seems to get to 90 degrees quickly too. Did not realise the internal cabin heater thermostat would cause issues with the economy.

The cabin heater since I bought it has been flaky.
It would randomly cut out while driving with no reason as to why. No fault codes either.
Assumed in the end after lots of poking and theories that it was a loose connection but was never the right time to investigate.
Now is that time.

Must get new brake shoes then. Oops.

Thanks for the info will call them shortly.

Ah. Sold the Leaf to buy a big family car.
Was talking about my A2 1.4 diesel. 53 plate.

The comment I made about an electric car was that I was thinking instead of putting money into the A2 I would instead buy a BMW i3 instead.
Still on the fence on that.

In that case the thermostat replacement would be the place to start even more than for an AUA - makes a huge difference to the way it warms up both for the cabin heater and for overall engine temperature and consequent fuel efficiency. Less than 30 minutes work if various bolts/screws aren't seized. If there is any doubt about the associated coolant temperature sensor that is worth doing at the same time for much the same reason.

No, the fan blower does not cause problems with fuel efficiency (to that degree). My point was if the fans are cold because the car is not warming up then that would affect it. Sounds like you have no issues there.

Binding brakes will cause issues with economy and i'd suggest you get the rear drums looked at.

I have finally removed the A2's cabin heater blower. Took an hours graft to get it out, mostly because of that last screw. Looks a bit dirty but when I run 12v through it I get nothing, so I assume it's dead. Also assuming I need another one.
This may explain why the cabin heater would randomly cut out for no reason since the day I bought it.

May be possible to simply replace the brushes, it may be possible to spin both brushes around and test to see if it the works?

I've often thought of replacing brushes in otherwise good motors but where would you source them from? I doubt Audi sell then???

Ah. The brushes were detached. Motor is working but under a lot of friction.
Will oil and see if that helps.

Cover with geese, at a push WD40 soak it, it resolved it for mind and still going strong 6 months later

It does. Not freely but with a push it rotates 1/4 of a turn.

I have some sewing machine oil and silicon and WD40. Started to apply sewing machine oil to the centre pin and rotate it then my 80 year old mum called with an issue with Google and got sidetracked.

The battery is low and needs a charge, which is probably wire I have a Single-Wire error.
The ABS was due to me driving the car with the rear brake seized.
I set off the alarm when I left the dog in the car and got into the house and forgot the poor little b****r. Oops.

The rest I have no idea.
