Mason, I do hope you get round to taking some pictures of your install. Very interesting, imo.
I currently have my tweeters 'inside' the quarter windows too, but since they're only small one (and not your 1 kg monsters!) they do not block the view.
My most recent setup (and still not happy under all circumstances)
Front:
- JVC KD-SH909RB headunit (CD, MP3, angled face)
- Intertecnik CN230 2-way filter @ 2500Hz, with following speakers
- Vifa D26 NC 05-06 tweeters mounted on dash (on 'rods') in quarter window
- Infinity Kappa 63.1i 3-way (mid/low only) mounted in stock location
Rear:
- Infinity Kappa 13cm speakers in rear door (with capacitor to cut the lowest frequencies)
Boot:
- Fenton Acoustics 2x240w amp (strange brand, good specs though)
- Fenton Acoustics 12 inch sub in 40l DIY bass reflex box (bridged setup)
All speaker cabling made by Monster. Front door's trim stuffed with BAF dampening material. Lead bitumen on inner metal surfaces.
Bass is impressive, but can sometimes lack the 'dry' and firm response that I like to have.
Mid-bass is sometimes accentuated way too much, especially some guitar and male voices. Can't work it out...
Highs are great. Imaging too, except for the lousy mids every now and then.
I find the A2 to be a very troublesome car....with respect to audio!
But maybe I shouldn't try to create a setup that sounds good for both Faithless and Coldplay....!
