Squeaky Centre Console

Drove up to Birmingham last week with my Mother as a passenger, she kept talking to me (as they do) so couldn't have the radio up loud, as I think I was supposed to be listening. I noticed that I have a squeaky, ticking type noise coming fron the left hand side of the centre console, have heard it once or twice in the past but on the journey it was pretty much constant. Drove me barmy and continues to do so.

Any one else had this or know a cure? I did read something a while ago about squeaky arm rests.

If I put pressure on the console it stops, but then it is a bit difficult to change gear, steer, etc at the same time. If only I was multi tasking....

On a good note, the weight of my mother stopped the passenger seat from rattling! Have weighed up the pros and cons and would rather a rattly seat as a permanent fixture in the A2..........;)

Mine squeaked at the point where the passenger airbag met the centre console. I bought a can of silicone lubricant from Halfords and squirted all the cracks around there. Fixed it. Had more squeaks around the door mirror, got them too.

Thanks Mark, will dash to Halfords before I go totally mad. Nope, too late.

Fi, I had that too. I narrowed it down to the trim that surrounds the cubby hole. Y'know the one under the climate control and above the ashtray. Give it a dose of silicone or I just repositioned it securely in place.

I have a 'ticky' passenger seat too I think! I say that because it sounds like it is the nearside passenger door, but when I hold the passenger headrest it stops. Any tips on where to aim my silicone spray anyone?

Yeah, the headrests do rattle sometimes. On all the cars I've had. What happens if you remove the passenger headrest - does it go away?

I have a new one - the steering wheel clicks just around the straight ahead. I have blasted it with silicone, no luck. It's REALLY annoying. Hopefully it'll go just like it's arrived. Probably all the cogs and stuff which make the steering lock and indicator self cancellers work. Off to Audi otherwise!
