What is the reason for the circular part attached to the Rear Box of my 2004 1.6 Fsi - funny ?

Looks like a vibration damper to me. Can't find it on the parts diagrams.

It may be some kind of noise/vacuum suppressor.

It is the correct Box for the A2, has th

The silencer in your screenshot doesn't seem to have the same cylindrical attachment as in the photo above. I am struggling to find anything for the Audi A2 ending with 611, although some other Audis seem to use that part number (minus A2's 8Z0), whilst 609 is easy to find in parts diagrams and photos for. Quite odd.

To answer my own question I just found this information on VW Audi SSP 251, it relates to a Lupo 1.4 FSI but obviously identifies my silencer add-on ?
