Information Symphony code input...

Hi, I disconnected my battery the other day and of course when re connecting it I needed to put the code in to take it out of safe mode, I found instructions on how to do this but can't seem to work it out, the instructions say turn it on so that it show Safe on the screen (correct) then press p.scan and RBDS at the same time until the screen shows 1000. And that's where I get stuck, I am assuming that p.scan is program scan and that this is the knob on the top right that says tune and scan under it? And then I'm not sure which one is RBDS? I have an RDS but when I press those 2 together nothing happens. Please help as I need my sounds back on :)

this is *not* normal - original audi radios remember which car they are in and should not require the code.

Symphony I or II?

Symphony 1 I'm guessing as it just says symphony on it, I took the battery off for a while would that affect it? The only other thing I did was disconnected the drivers door panel to remove it and the disconnect the drivers door motor and then put it back together? I might have to put the vag com on and have a look see!!!

Symphony1 can only load one CD while Symphony2 takes 6.
I had a Symphony1 in my 2001 TDi and it needed the code after battery disconnection.
TP and RDS were used on my radio but later ones used RDS and SCAN to get '1000' to appear. After that they introduced radios connected via the canbus which remember the radio code, providing the radio unit is the factory fit original.

Cheers Spike

Spike, your an absolute star, TP and RDS did the trick, that must have been the only combination of buttons I didn't try lol thank you :)
