Just wondering if it's possible to remove tamper proof screws like this one!

Is it the one on the left or the right?

Right I assume. Weird looking fixing. You say screw. Is anything on the back of it?
If it is a screw go with Pinky's suggestion. If the same on the back, kind of rivet on steroids, it will just turn and no choice except drill it out, but it might still turn anyway in which case use flats as well.

On the off chance it is the one on the left just buy the correct size security torx bit with hollow centre.

Yes it's the same both sides. Oh it is the one on the right

If you have some needle nose pliers and a heat gun, with a good directional nozzle, you'll find that you can undo these fixings by heating the sheared off part and then holding what you can with the pliers, turn the head on the reverse. They have thread lock in them and when melted, it actually makes undoing quite easy. This is an ECU cage yes?

Yes it's an ECU cage. Haven't got use of a heat gun unfortunately

You may struggle then without heat. If you can get a little drill in there, just pop 2 holes in on opposite sides of the bolt, then hold with a pin plier - it'll be easier than trying to make flats.

So Paul can have a look at remapping it
My new motor is another 1.4 TDi 3 cylinder but it's not an A2

no need to remove the cage, there are two handle type clips on each side, just pull those to the left and right and it will be released from the cage, undo the plugs and hey presto, you will have the ECU in your hands. that's what I did on my TDI 75 2004 PLATE,

It's not an A2 though....

Whoops, sorry bud, that will teach me to read things properly and not speed read. As suggested I would cut a groove.

Indeed it will Johny
Now sorted and removed, thanks for the tips guys
