Tappet & Rocker Arms for 2003 1.4 BBY Petrol, Advice needed please.

I seem to have a bit of a noisy tappet (or two) which I'm going to replace. I've browsed this forum and cannot find any instructions as to how to do the procedure, instead just lots of people having it done by a garage/dealer/friend etc.

Having looked at the parts diagrams on VAGCAT: http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/au/A2/2003/248/49/3095788/ (View attachment Audi A2 2003 1.4BBY Camshaft & Tappets.pdf)
it doesn't show how the rocker is held in place in the head? Does anybody have a better diagram which does show how the rocker arms are held in? Or does anybody have a good quality photo showing their cylinder head with the rocker cover removed?

A question on the roller rocker arms - it seems they've been updated as the original part number has been changed to the same but with a C at the end? Can anyone confirm, is this correct? I don't really understand what the "8Z-4-006 000*" relates to, or is it chassis number or something?

Lastly, it appears the rocker cover is sealed using a liquid sealant. Is this an everyday liquid gasket or something special and needs to be Audi own?

Many thanks in advance.

The following PDF's may help with how the rockers are held in place.

The "C" suffix is the newer part No.

It does appear gasket sealer is used, not sure what spec though, and as there is a myriad to choose from it would be wise to ask a dealer for the specs. I'd normally suggest buying it from a dealer, but the cost for a 100g tube is a whopping £54 inc VAT.

Cheers

Jeff

Thanks for all the information Jeff, very useful. I'll have a read up of all that. Just out of interest, where are the PDFs from? Is that Elsawin or similar? (Haven't got any software like that yet)!
I would imagine (as is the case for 90% of car parts) that it's not Audi who makes the gasket sealant anyway, so it's likely someone like Loctite anyway. I'll see what I can find out and report back to the forum when/if I can.
