TDI Head Gasket Replacement

Hi,
I'm about to replace the head gasket on my TDI. It's with 2 holes/slots.
After machining the head, should I put the same thickness gasket or go for the
thicker one?

Hi,
If anyone has replaced a head gasket on a TDI I was wondering did you attach the intake manifold and turbo to the head before putting it back on the block?
Trying to decide if that would be an easier route than attaching afterwards.

Hi nick4tl,
It is the easier way but be aware it makes it a heavy lift for one person.
