There WILL BE a new A2!!!

In this week's Autocar (sorry said Autoexpress by mistake!) magazine they have a bit about the new A2!!! There is even an artist's impression on the front cover! Finally Audi came to their senses and realised after starting the premium small niche they can't just abandon it when preoduction stops in August on the current one! Why give all those sales to BMW and Merc on a plate?!! There is even mention of a 6speed automatic! Lets hope the DSG gearbox makes its way into the next A2!

BUT due to Audi taking so long to decide on a replacement it will only be available from 2007!!! [29]

Don't be silly no more A2s. It won,t be a A2 as we know it. There is a sort of a replacemnt due in more like 2008.
 
A replacement to any car is NEVER the same as the previous one! God that is surely the point!!! Until now Audi was firm on killing the A2 and never replacing it. This new one is due in 2007 as I said above and not 2008.

Not according to Audi !! It wil not be known as a A2 therefore not a replacemnt but a new model.
 
I wonder what it will be called then....an A1/Q1/Q2, or will they start a new family, with a new letter?

Any word whether it will be steel or aluminium? My guessing is steel.

2004 1.4 TDi (90) SE, Cobalt Blue, Climate control, Cruise control, DIS, Sport seats, Winter pack, Symphony II.

So no more aluminium... it will be steel and sit on the next VW Polo/Skoda Fabia/SEAT Ibiza floorplan... which makes far more financial sense...

But the above is Autocar's own artist impression and NOT what the final car will look like... as artist impressions go this one's front glass can't even go down the door as the glass is longer than the door!!! LOL They took out the front quarter window to create this look but that is NOT what the final car will look like...

I personaly doubt that anything like this will ever come true.
As audi wants to move up to only the upper part of the market.
This car will be to cheap for them as a simmular skoda seat or vw polo will be in between 15000 up to 20000 euro s.
Audi will not make a car in that price range now a day.

That is what they said yes... But since that daft idea Mercedes have launched the A AND a B class and BMW is readying a raft of smaller MPV cars... so I think Audi went back to the drawing board and realised they do need something in that price bracket. Why give all those sales to the opposition? And we are not even talking about the new Picasso, SCenic, the new 3007 and any of those cars competing for the same money...

Yes i know its the Q7 be nice if that replaced the A2, Quatro RS badge 225 bhp hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm nice !!
 
I was looking at this weeks AutoExpress mag whilst browsing this and cannot find any trace of it in the magazine or on the website.

Where did you see this Johann ?????
