Thermostat Housing - 1.4SE

Hello,

2001 1.4SE.

Today my coolant warning light came on and when topping up the leak became clear at the thermostat housing. Seems the clip has failed and also sheered off some of the actual housing.

Part number for the bend and clip seems to be 032121118B which I can find nowhere online with the exception of alibaba. The main housing to which it is connected looks relatively fine, with the exception of the small portion behind the O ring which has detached, however it is wedged in place when the assembly is together. This has made me thing that replacing the bend would be sufficient without replacing the whole housing. I could also look at alternatives to repair the failed clip and retain the same bend, perhaps an additional jubilee clip.

Struggling to see the issue occurring with anyone else on the forum but any help greatly appreciated. Especially if anyone can locate the part.

I have replace mine with topran brand only one avaible in bulgaria. Allso replace the death pipe behind the engine.
I must say to replace the thermostat housing is not an eazy job.

The Topran housing I bought (Topran 110350 version) to replace part number 032121111AM came with the wrong thermostat for my car but can confirm it is common to both the Himmermann metal 83° thermostat and the Henschel plastic 87° thermostat providing you use the corresponding cover, the housing itself looks identical but considerably less expensive than a genuine Audi one ... I would recommend buying a genuine Audi Thermostat and matching cover.

Having had the replica yourself what makes you recommend the original? Did you go on to swap back the genuine?

This seems to be a very confusing component with many variations in cost too.

Hi, I bought the Topran Housing, considerably less expensive (and available!) but with a genuine Audi thermostat and cover ... reason I went for the genuine thermostat is because the original lasted eighteen years and 190,000 miles, it's not an easy job and wouldn't want to tackle it too often. The Topran Housing ... well it's doing the job, no visible difference in the quality but time will tell!
