Today I.....

Love those wheels! You say they are TT wheels? What would be the size / name I’d search for on the eBay?

These are 16" Audi Speedlines (7J, ET31). They were the standard wheel on the TT (and as such not very desired in the TT-community). I had a quick look and there are currently two sets on Ebay (there might be more, also on Gumtree, but some sellers don't know they're called Speedlines so to find these you have to sift through all 16" TT wheels for sale).

Also, be aware as there are two other 5-arm 16" designs from Audi, both of which won't fit.

Last, the tyres that the TT comes on (205/55/16) probably won't fit an A2; I haven't tried and went straight for 205/50/16.

Got my A2 back today

I’ve had the following work completed;

Oil chain and sprockets replaced
Cambelt and water pump
New oil filler tube
Polo Tdi dog bone mount
2 x droplinks replaced
And the air con regassed so now nice and cold

To be fair the wear on the sprockets and chain didn’t look bad, but who knows! The same goes for the water pump and Cambelt

Happy it’s all done!
I suppose I should now clean it as I’ve not done it since buying it.

Top guys at SJB Keynsham & I can’t recommend them enough. I’ve no affiliation or interest in them! (They usually work on Mercs and Smart cars and had a lovely brabus roadster in today!)

.... I drove at 70mph without the steering wheel shuddering, so not only do the se alloys I put on look better the tyres they came with are better to.. At least that's my assumption on what has stopped the steering wheel shudder.

Just got through retrofitting the parking sensors on the rear bumper. Just before the rain started. Worked a treat. Which is more than I can say for my soldering. But still, it works.

After getting a rescue staffy a couple of months ago and moving to Margate pretty much just in the little car it needs a bloody good clean before I start doing other little bits.

Wednesday it’s booked in for a new clutch from a garage that the owner drinks at my local. £300 all in. Which I don’t think is too bad.

Then service and exterior clean up of the paintwork and wheels!

please ensure that when the clutch is changed the cross are, clip and pivot bolt is also changed, the owl lot is less than £20 from Audi and will save you another clutch change if it where to pack up, I have seen many failures of this part on both A2's and other similar aged VAG cars

cheers,
Paul

I can only assume this is similar to the unit made by Graham, as fitted to the TDI120..? Photos please! :)
@timmus

There you go Tom and anyone else who is interested, below is the 'after' of the modified 'EGR' value for the AMF engine, unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the before, but I can do as the EGR valve removed from the A2 is in the garage

What I can say is that both performance and economy are improved. After a motor way run from St Annes to Maryport up the motorway and back through the lakes via Keswick, Windermear then picked the motorway up just after Kendal, back to St Annes a total of 240 miles I averaged 72 mpg.
Considering that we set of on time but got help up on the motorway at Lancaster south due to an overturned caravan I then had to make up time as we where going to a funeral and did not want to be late, so the next 50 miles up the motorway where at sub optimal speeds for economy (lets leave it at that), I had brimmed the tank before setting off and got back home showing just over 1/2 tank left, so I went and brimmed the tank again, working out at 72.2 MPG,
Its difficult to say exactly but considering the motorway speed involved I would say its around 6 to 8 mpg improvement. The only thing I have done is replace the std EGR (which was rather clogged up) with the modified 'EGR' in the pictured below
Lets just say I was rather impressed with the performance improvement, but absolutely blown away with the MPG improvement.
The engine just feels so much more eager to rev, I guess thats what you get when you let it breath !!!

Cheers,
Paul
