Today I.....

Today I replaced the coil 032905106B on my 1.4 Petrol 2002 AUA. The Emission Management Light was solid amber on Tuesday so possibly the damp and miserable winter had resulted in sluggish acceleration. A scan showed numerous misfires, probably over the days and times I had driven the car. Euro Car Parts have 20% off all Bosch parts until Monday 18th December so my A2 got an early Christmas present of a brand new Bosch 0221603010 rather than a secret Santa special! Engine hoovered out of the autumn leaf fall whilst I had the cover off too. Seems to be running fine, no EMS light on. Cleaned and inspected the Temic part and there were hairline cracks on two sides and underneath as per the phoyographs. Can't be sure if they caused the problem, but still if the age is right on the Temic as manufactured in early 2002, I am sure the new Bosch coil's time had arrived.
I would have replaced with Bosch also,
rather than a cheaper brand.

Hope it gives you the satisfaction of solving the problem.

Collected a car that wasn’t an A2

Morning Erling,

Very very nice Sir. Cannot wait to see this one, bet it sounds awesome!

Are you getting plenty of Shell vouchers for Christmas.

Hopefully catch up early in 2024.

Kind regards,

Tom
Yep, sooooo good. Just constantly worrying it’s about to explode!!!!

I filled up the 90 litre tank earlier with super unleaded. Was somewhat disconcerting to see an expected range of 325 miles, less than half of what I get out of the 34l tank in the 1.2!!! When I’ve saved up I’ll drive it up to @2work towers!!! 😉

It's working on about 16-17mpg average in that case, and on the good stuff too. Ouch!! A friend had a V8 supercharged Range Rover that did about the same.

read A2Steve's message about family and suspending the parts supply operation. Really sorry to hear the news and hope you are all as well as you can be in the situation - as many have commented on the thread before it was closed, A2s are just a hobby, family is all that matters. Wishing you the very best.

Thanks for your well wishes mate.

By the time I’m getting home in the nights after doing the hospital run it’s about 6:45. I’ve then got the choice to either spend an hour with the kids before they go to bed or go and take parts off the breaker. Money isn’t as tight as it used to be so the kids win hands down. It’s been like that for about a month now and is unlikely to change for months to come, so it’s time for a change/break.

I’ll definitely still be active in the club though, it’s been a big part of my life for 10 years.

Your family comes first, especially the children as they grow so quickly and you can never get that time back. Thanks for all your help over the years keeping our little cars going, take care 🤗

Started doing a few bits on my new (to me) A2 (henceforth known as Penny)

- Replaced broken cupholder
- Replaced missing wheel centres and jack point covers
- Swapped aftermarket stereo with Concert 2, but need to sort non can issues later.
- Cleaned and lubricated ball joint on gear lever.
- Removed and did first clean of head lights and fitted Phillips LED sidelight bulbs and 80w low beam bulbs.

- Removed old dodgy tuning box and made sure sloppy wiper arm was removable (ready for a visit next week to Depronman to do a few things for me 😁)

Even managed to put the Christmas tree up and some outside decorations , quite a productive weekend so far !

There's a risk those 80 Watt lamps will melt the headlight lenses. They'll get very hot.
Mac.

I thought the 80w would be a good compromise between the std 55w and 100w. I thought I'd read somewhere on the group (or one of the FB groups) that a number of people used 80w in their A2s?
