Has anyone had MAJOR problems getting the tracking sorted on their A2? I had mine done by an independant garage with the full 4 wheel computer system FIVE times now and still it pulls to the left and the steering wheel sits skew... only paid £40 once thankfully. Mr Audi wants over £200 for the same pleasure!!! Should I now go there or what do you guys suggest? I feel I'm ruining a brand new set of tyres at the moment! Grrr

If the independant has the right set up, there is a problem that Audi should be invited to sort out armed with the computer evidence from the indy. I assume you got a print out, I always do, that's at Elite, in Dagenham, 40 quid just the same.

I thought my car was pulling to the left too. I know about road camber but still took it back to Audi. They took it for a test drive and thought the amount of pull was due to the road angle and not any fault in the tracking. Also the chief mechanic said that these small cars with such large wide tyres will pull more than most cars as they are very sensitive to even the smallest amount of camber. I took his word for it and to be honest I'm not noticing any uneven wear on my tyres so for the moment I'm putting up with it.

BTW Silverline in Warwick are excellent too, if you're near there.

I had massive uneven wear on my tyres so I know something was WELL amiss. I have the prints and will take them to Mr Audi then... Thanks for the advice.

Had loads of wear on my front tyres, and caused them to split very dangerously. Mr Audi, did the alignment, said there was nothing wrong, so must be the tyres, not our fault guv, blah, blah, within tolerences, blah, we are really not interested, now give us £200, go away and don't come back. Yes, my experience with WHITES AUDI SERVICE, CAMBERLEY, as usual RUBBISH. Offered no help or advice.

Grrr... I hope that is not the case with mine! For the £200 I want it to be perfect afterwards!

I had this with my car...

...and still do to some point. (if you take your hand off the wheel, it takes a few seconds then starts to wander. It's much slower on the motorway, better surfaces).

My A2 has been to the dealer numerous time, with wheel wobble and pulling to the left.

I have found this:

Most tyre bays, never seem to get the balancing right, I took mine back to the tyre "specialist" 3 times, and he still couldn't cure the vibes, finally Audi had it, as I suspected something more serious, and violá they fixed it. Balancing!

For the first 3/4 months after we bought the car, I complained about the pulling left business.
Over the last 2.5 years I've had quite a few A2 courtesty cars, 75's and 90bhp ones, mostly diesel.
I would say that ALL audi A2's pull to the left, wether new or not. I've had lengthy chat's with the techie at my local dealership, who said that it seemed to be an A2 trait. As they are sensitve to the road conditions and follow the camber of the road.

You might say it's bulls**te, which was my intial reaction, but like I said after driving 10 different A2's over the years. I'd agree with him. Sorry!

However... I would say if you have uneven tyre wear etc, then you have a problem that needs sorting.

There's nothing worse than having a friend in a golf gti 10 years old that's a straight as a die!

Hey thanks for that... it perhaps confirms that I should NOT go to Mr Audi. But the previous tyres were worn very badly due to tracking being out. So i wonder if is now corrected and it is just the steering wheel that is skew? But alas it still pulls to the left, though this may be normal as you say, but it had never pulled this severely in the 3 years I have had it... it was always staight as an arrow on any road!!! grrr

Fabulous prices and a full 4 wheel alignment rig.

mlarner, Micheldever are good on price but don't seem to good on getting what you want. Asked 3 times for stick on weights and still got clip on. Grrrrr! I reccomend Fleet Tyres, they are superb, have all the alignment gear and supply my local Audi dealer, so great rates on tyres. Will find the number and post it up here.

Elite of Dagenham have always seemed a very swish and a straight firm. I had a large nail head in the Micra tyre, ATS sucked their teeth, kicked the tyre, said it was serious, pulled faces and said that it was an unusual tyre size, and was about £60 if they could find one. A micra, unusual?
So I went to Elite about 6 miles further on, "there will be no problem with the tyre" said the man, "we've got many makes to choose from, but let us look at it first". They pulled the nail head off, and that's exactly what it was, a head, no nail. No charge.
They also track my Volvo, "don't worry about the warranty they said, the Volvo dealers send their cars here for computer tracking, then add a 100% mark up".
The moral of this story is...... I dunno, maybe some tyre dealers are better than others at tracking and service.
Don't ever try a Saturday morning, it's like a queue for a football match, so they must be doing something right.

Car went in today... £220 later and it is perfect!!!!!!! Fantastic! They do know something about the car it seems that the independent guy did not... SG Smith of Beckenham in SE London did a superb job.

Well they still could not fix it that Thursday (as stated in the post above). They decided to undo the bolts of the entire suspension assembly and re-attach it so that it would be closer to the expected tolerances. But these bolts are for one time use only so had to be ordered. Car was in yesterday and with the new bolts (a snip at £2-86 and the lowest Audi bill I have ever had and will ever have!) it all seems fine now. But what a palava. Five times witht he independent guy and 3 times with Audi before it is correct. Total cost £262.86 PLUS two front tyres ruined by it being so far out! Grrr...
