Hi everyone
I'm new here.
Has anyone had trouble getting comfortable in the A2? We bought the car a couple of years ago and then I wasn't driving, I am now taking lessons and find that if I get the seat the way I am comfy I keep hitting my knee on the steering colum. If I get that right I am then at full stretch to get to the clutch peddle. I phoned Audi and they told me there was nothing wrong with the design of the car and I should have tried it when we bought it. I was very surprised. We have to have a service in two weeks and they are sugesting (at the garage)that we have the clutch built up. I am tearing my hair out....can anyone help please. [2]

I'm going for the obvious here but.... have you tried all permutations, i.e. moved the steering wheel up/down as well as in/out and adjusted the seat height.

I'm 6ft2 and had no trouble getting comfy in our A2. I've heard of bigger people not having too much of a problem either.
I take it you're a few inches shorter than me tho'. What height are you? There might be someone else on here of a similar size who can offer advice.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.

Lucy-welcome!

I'm over 6 foot and about 19 stone (give or take a few lb's!) and I had no trouble with the seat-infact I had to pull the drivers seat forward a few notches to reach the pedals.

I take it you have tried the permutations of seat up/down with steering up/down?. The steering does go up and down and not just in/out?. I can't remember!.

I'm not suprised by Audi's attitude though-OK, you did buy the car and should have tried seating, but circumstances change, people change and they could have maybe offered some advice e.g. cushion on the seat!

If what you say is 'comfy' a suitable position for driving? I saw someone driving the other day who I presume had positioned the seat to be 'comfy'. As a result the driving position was wrong. Bolt upright with the seat as far forward as it would go - the person didn't appear small as their head was near the top of the window. Result chest 4inches from airbag and elbows on the steering wheel - result in a crash possible death when the airbag goes off.

Your instructor should have taught you how to set the seat properly for driving. Adjusting the column will prevent it hitting your knees.

Keep trying, I am 6'2" and my wife 5' 2" and we both find it very comfortable. Try setting the seat to the pedals and then seat height and steering wheel to suit.

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

Hi Everyone
Thanks for the replys....in answer to some of you I am 5ft 3ins with little legs. I wasn't driving when we got the car and have just decided to learn....I can get into my instructors car a Ford Focus with no trouble. I tried the Audi and moved everything but no help at all. My instructor is going to look at it when I have my next lesson and see what he can come up with. If anyone out there has had problems I would love to know what they have come up with.
Thanks again.

Lucy

My wife is 5' 3" and has no problems, she actually moves the column down a little so she can see the instruments! We also had a Focus before the A2!!

I think the problem is as Lucy said, she is 5ft 3 as other people on the forum, but her legs are shorter than theirs in proportion and that is why they may be falling outside of the normal design guidelines (for Audi). Fords seems to use a better spread of legs then! Difficult problem to solve I'm sure! I hope you get a solution! Steering in as far as possible and seat as low as possible would work, BUT then your eyes will have a view of the road between the top of the dash and below the steering wheel!!! Good luck!

All A2's steering can move both up and down and in and out via the same lever under the steering wheel Jeff... just drop the lever and pull or push the wheel in and out, up or down...

Seems to me like a lot of the male drivers in A2's are similar proportions as I am over 6' and quite heavy.

I must confess at first it took me ages to get a comfy position, but once I finally found it, its fab .... although now I want sport seats......
