I have a '03 plate 1.4tdi (70bhp) model. 99,000 on the clock. Took it to the garage as I have black smoke leaving the exhaust, which increases exponentially with high revs. I don't really notice it when the engine is just ticking over.
Anyway, the mechanic traced it back to the turbo, and said it's on the way out. He said something along the lines of the seals were letting oil through causing the engine to burn dirty.
I wanted to know if anyone has a part a number, or can point me in the place where I should get one from. I've seen on an older thread that they cost around £700: http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?14219-Audi-A2-TDI-75BHP-Turbo. The mechanic said I was probably looking at £800 - £1000 all in.
But looking on eBay I found this new one for £250: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A2-T...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d331a212a I'm not certain this is the correct part number, of if I should be suspicious at this price since it states it is new.
I was going to give Portsmouth Audi a call tomorrow to ask for the part number and enquire how much they cost. But I thought I would ask you guys too.
One last thing, I couldn't make out where the turbo was under the bonnet. Not sure if I am just being blind or if it's tucked away from view.
