Turning the dash/needle lights on and off via VCDS

It says there are no settings to change in channel 19.
I use a china cable :$ with 12.12 vcds software.
The other channels i can change stuf.

So what happens when you go to instruments 17 then adaption channel 19?
are the settings not there at all?
Is it a full VCDS set up you have or "lite"?

Hi,
Could you please provide the make and model of the Chinese cable you are using

Hi. This post outlines exactly what I need, however I too cannot find anything under channel 19. Can anyone indicate if this is a VCDS lite issue (I only have lite), or perhaps the early versions (such as mine where I don;t have DIS or a canbus stereo) have a different coding.....
I have attached what appears for adaptation channel 19 in Instruments 17. There is a strange reference to ambient temp, but no actual access. I have been up and down the channnels, and the very few that are available are for other items, and the one that show what they are, but are still not available, don't seem to be what I need.

Any help would be appreciated, as I have no lighting at all until the headlights or sidelights are on, and often cannot see the instruments!
Thanks
Matt

Your version of instrument cluster does not support this feature, unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply. If I take the big leap and ask (you) for a conversion to full DIS, would this then allow lighting also? I do miss not having MPG available.....

I know that this is an old post. But I just had to use it on both of our A2s.
When it starts to get dark or you go under thick tree foliage etc. It is very difficult to see the speed numbers on the speedo.
Just for clarification, the above image shows the right area in VCDS
Instruments 17 then adaption, then select channel 19 but when you see the above image you hit “read” and it will show you something like 10010 as the code. Just change that to 30010 then save and the speedo illumination will be on with the ignition regardless of the light switch position.

Not a vital change but it better with the speedo illuminated in my humble opinion.

Thanks Steve
It's not an old post really, however I had a hardware issue (the original 'black rimmed' dials, where I needed a hardware upgrade to get those options. @timmus kindly helped there, and I have the hardware, and now those options.

Cheers

Matt
