In the six years I've been a member of the A2OC, and an amused bystander on the many and various A2 related Facebook pages, I've never read of an A2 being stolen or broken into.Okie dukie has any one ever had their car broken into or attempted theft etc ... ?
Has anyone fitted after market security and got a discount on their insurance etc ??
Would these cars be a target to thieves etc ??
Is the factory fitted alarm immobilizer up to the task ??
Just comparing to Australia where I used to live now back in uk.. you would see brand new Mercs BMW,S etc like over $200k plus for these cars and they were getting stolen all the time . Mainly because people never lock their doors and people just walk in and take the keys .... and then when you tell them that after market security could've prevented the theft they chuck a sad and get abusive .. . They still dont believe that "relay theft " is real and "its impossible to steal a new car with out the keys " etc .. . Birmingham is pretty bad but I'm pretty sure they would steal the old man's Porsche Cayenne first before looking at an A2In the six years I've been a member of the A2OC, and an amused bystander on the many and various A2 related Facebook pages, I've never read of an A2 being stolen or broken into.
The old fashioned T piece with a tap, which you must remember to open when leaving the car and close before setting off, in a metal brake pipe is frowned upon nowadays, as is the live electrical feed to the bodywork.
I'm sure others will be along with more up to date suggestions.
200 a year to subscribe ?I have a tracker fitted to my Macan, it costs £200 per year to subscribe and it saves £30 on insurance. Needless to say I never bothered subscribing once it ran out.

One thing, you will not be impressed with the alarm on the A2, you can just about hear it if the wind is in the right direction and you are nearer than 10 metres!Okie dukie has any one ever had their car broken into or attempted theft etc ... ?

Yes, its a Porsche system and anything Porsche is dearer than anything else!200 a year to subscribe ?

The same applies to the theft of high value cars in the UK. Lots of house break ins to get the keys, even if the thieves have to disable the occupants.Just comparing to Australia where I used to live now back in uk.. you would see brand new Mercs BMW,S etc like over $200k plus for these cars and they were getting stolen all the time . but people in the UK are actually taking action to try and prevent theft by upgrading the lock on their house etc and fitting after market security .... people still leave their keys in the ignition over in Oz and then wonder why the car goes walkies ....The same applies to the theft of high value cars in the UK. Just out side Birmingham mate .. . I had a disc lock on my outback back in Australia and they have never seen anything like it ... I have seen people stop and take pictures of it ?? but I will be getting another disc lock , locking wheel nuts and most likely a new security system just for my own piece of mindIt really depends on where you live and what car you drive.
Car crime in my area of west Wales is non existent. I mean really non existent. 23 years and zero car crimes in my small village!
My brother however lives in Essex. Two of his neighbors have recently had their high value keyless entry/start cars stolen from outside their houses in the middle of the night. The thieves used a signal booster to enter the cars and drive off.
It's very unlikely your A2 will be a target. If you want to make sure, a steering wheel lock is a very good option.
I have always been a bit of a security kinda guy ... . False of habit I guess ..The A2 is an under appreciated and misunderstood car and as such they didn’t sell in volumes when they were in production.
They are not magnets for thieves (IMHO) and whilst the FSI is the fastest version I wouldn’t think that they are at the top of their list of cars to steal as not really fast. I would balance the cost of purchase vs the cost of security unless where you are parking it causes you serious concerns.
No harm in doing whatever you can to protect your property, I’m all for that.I have always been a bit of a security kinda guy ... . False of habit I guess ..
Very vice words from @Jeetesh to my opinion. The A2 is an under appreciated and misunderstood car and as such they didn’t sell in volumes when they were in production.
