V68 temperature flap motor removal

Hi does anyone have a method for removing the v68 temperature position motor so I can clean the potentiometer or replace it. Boiling hot in my car of late.

Lots of threads about how it breaks but can't find anything on how to actually remove it.

This thread may help. A tip is to take a photo, prior to removing the motor, so you know how to realign the cogs.

Thank you, I have read this but it doesn't say how to remove the flaps motor just shows the clips, I guess no ones done it?

I don't want to strip all sorts out if I don't have to obviously but if no ones done I can make a guide?

Anyone out there done this themselves in the car?

Thanks guys, brilliant explanation from @ajsellors , I have an endoscope so will give this a try after securing a new motor, sounds like repairing is futile really, I guess its 17 years old! THanks so much for everyones help. Sounds like a bit of a nerve testing and patience testing operation this! Much like all A2 procedures in the operation room.

The last motor I bought brand new was around £130 from Audi. When I last checked there were a few available second hand on ebay and I think they are a generic part across the VAG range.

Cleaning and regreasing the potentiometer means breaking it apart first, moving part is melted to stay in place (at least on G112/central flap). New potentiometer? Not available as separate piece.
Since i managed to put/melt it back together, it's been 2 years without problems. I'm super cheapskate with things i have some probability of fixing :D
But if fixing would end with problems, you'd have to take it apart again etc....

Thanks pal, sounds like fun finding out

Not sure how it relates to the A2 but there is a 'how to' on repairing the flaps -

Cheers Spike
